The Bolhão Market is a famous market in the
city of Oporto. It is a two-level complex with a neoclassic architecture built
in 1914. It has four different areas divided by products: fish, butcher, garden
and flowers. In its surroundings there are many other shops, such as clothes
stores, coffee houses and perfume shops among many others. Its name is due to a
rivulet that crossed through the area, and formed a water bubble in the place
where the market is today, naming it “Bulhão”, that means a big bubble.
